How this site was made

Colophon.

A note about the type, the build, and the principles behind this small, slow website.

Display type
Fraunces, by Undercase Type. A warm display serif with real optical sizing, carrying the headings with a little character, confident without shouting.
Body type
Hanken Grotesk, by Mihail Apostolov. An even, readable grotesque chosen to stay quiet under long reading.
Mono type
JetBrains Mono, kept for the small technical print, dates, and the odd label, where a steady, engineered feel helps.
Color
Forest green and brass on warm bone, a hunter's palette. Light and dark are drawn separately, not inverted.
Built with
Astro, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. Static HTML with a single interactive island for the radio. Source kept simple on purpose.
Hosted on
Amazon S3 with CloudFront in front. Static, fast, and unremarkable.
Analytics
Plausible: a simple, aggregate page-view count. No cookies, no personal data, no Google, and nothing to consent to.
Author
Khalid Rizvi, in Vienna, Virginia. Most of the writing happens early in the morning, before the rest of the day catches up.

The site exists because writing is how I find out what I think. Everything else is an organizing principle for the writing.
